LATELY HAPPENINGS

We have had so many jolly adventures the last two weeks, so I've decided to bunch them all together as one big voluptuous post!

This time of year is always so bat shit crazy around our house! Most EVERYONE in our family has a birthday to celebrate in March. When I say everyone, I mean it. Matt, his dad, his uncle, and our nephew are all born on March 13th. Our two nieces are both born on March 4th. Matt's grandma was born on March 22nd. Dodger was born on March 23 and last but not least is our soon to be born nephew, who is due the 22nd! Weird right? I think it might be the Nelson family curse. It's either that, or we all get really frisky in the month of June. Having this many birthdays in one month, means we travel a lot!! It's so crazy and so much fun! It's also incredibly nice to have some family time with just Matt and Dodge. I love to show and experience new things with Dodger. I find that I am totally obsessed with going on adventures with him right now! Everyday I try and do something out of the ordinary with my Mr.D and it has turned into our little thing. I love it. He is growing up way too fast and I want to cherish and take advantage of every moment I have with him. I'll never get these days back that seem to just fly past me and I don't want to ever regret not making the absolute most of the time we have together.

The car accident that almost stole my husband and son away from me 11 months ago, has made it so I am extremely present everyday. Present, is the only word I can think of right now to describe it. The thought of never knowing if I'll make it home from the quick trip to the the store, or if Matt will come home after work each night has really made me take each moment into consideration.

Matt kisses me goodbye each morning at 6:30 am before he leaves for work. Instead of being too sleepy to kiss him back or even remember the kiss, my body instinctively jolts me awake when his lips hit mine. I always kiss him 3 times and we say we love each other. I hate the thought of "what if he doesn't make it home" and I didn't show him how much I love him. I can't help but to always have a fear of losing Dodge or Matt in the back of my mind. I am truly grateful for this fear. It helps me to be more patient, loving, and to grab life by the balls and make the most of every moment. The car accident has left me with many physical and emotional scars and I am so incredibly grateful for each and everyone of those scars.

We never know what this asshole of a world has in store for us and sometimes it's easy to forget that we are NOT invincible. I pray I never take my precious moments with the ones I love for granted.

I just realized that when I started writing this post, I had absolutely no intention on going down this path of emotional jibber jabber, but I am really happy I did. Hopefully you enjoyed the rickety ride of my writing.

You only live once darlings, so make it count! Go make today your bitch.

Here are a few adventurous moments from the past two weeks...

Dapper Dodger

We went exploring today in style. Dodge has an obsession with watching the cars drive by, which makes him one great little model for me! Enjoy a few photos of my dapper dude and happy hump day darlings!

10 MONTHS OF DODGE

10 months ago today, Dodger died. Tomorrow at 12 am marks the 10 months since he was born. He is one special boy. I can't wrap my head around the fact that he will be one, just two short months from now. Absolutely bonkers! Why does time insist on moving forward? I think it is to torture me. I wish he would stay bald and tiny forever. I know he feels differently, he just can't wait to run around and be a big boy!

Yesterday, was so thrilling to watch Dodge see new things and be totally captivated by them. He looks at everything as being so magical. My boy teaches me daily to appreciate the small wonders this world has that I so often forget.

Cheers to 10 months of my charming Dodger!

OUR JOURNEY TO HERE...

I'm about to get incredible mushy on all of you...so brace yourselves.
As I look over at my baby playing on the floor, it hits me hard that he's quickly turning into a little boy. It completely blows my mind how lucky we are to be living this wonderful life we have. I can't believe just 9 short months ago our little family started in such a whirlwind sort of way. I remember coming home from the hospital with my husband who couldn't walk and we didn't have answers on how long he'd be in a wheelchair or if he'd ever get to have full mobility in his leg, and our itty bitty new baby who was connected to these huge machines. I was so positive in the hospital, but that day when we got home it all hit me at once. I was an emotional wreck as I hid in my room, under my sheets, so no one could see how torn apart I really was. I wanted to stay strong for both my boys. So I let myself cry under those sheets as I questioned everything about our future. I hated not knowing if everything was going to be ok. As a new pregnant women, I had all these images in my head of what our perfect little life was going to be like. I was going to have all the right gear, his nursery was going to be completely finished and adorable when we got home from the hospital, I was going to have everything I thought I needed, and would just be so crazy prepared it would be a breeze! So when that was all taken away from me and I was completely not prepared, my nursery was horrifically unfinished (still is...oops!) and besides a 3 month supply of diapers I had stocked up on and a diaper gene I would never use, I basically had nothing I actually needed, so the panic set it. I just couldn't believe how this could all happen to us so quickly and so unexpectedly. My perfect birth plan was snatched away from me.

I couldn't see the future as I laid in that bed crying, but if I could have, I wouldn't have believed how amazing it was. We are so incredibly blessed it doesn't seem real. My husband can do most everything he use to (He has a slight robot walk but that just makes him even more sexy) and my itty bitty baby has grown into such a big boy! His laugh is constant and he's just such a happy and good boy that I still can't believe it! Our life is beautifully different than I had imagined, and absolutely a million times more wonderful than I could have every hoped for.

If I can leave you beautiful souls who are reading this with a message, it would be to "just keep swimming." I'm pretty sure none of us have a crystal ball, but I know that whatever you might be going through at this moment that makes you think you can't possible pull through, you can. Keep your head up and think positively. The only way to keep sane through this harsh world is to keep your spirits up and put a smile on your face.

I hope I didn't bore you with my emotional jibber jabber, but if I did, then just take a look at this beautiful little boy to entertain you a bit!

POLKA DOTS AND GIGGLES

It's pretty obvious that I'm absolutely obsessed with my baby boy Dodge, so here are a few more giggles and laughs with the fabulous Kevin Hulett behind the camera. I'm absolutely stunned by Dodge's charm. His smile can brighten a room and completely makes me fall head over heels in love with him more and more each day. Not only is he an absolute stud but dammit he can wear the crap out of these rad clothes! Hope everyone's day is brightened up a bit with Dodger's smile, have a gorgeous Tuesday babes!
